Last week concluded a series of Sustainability Conferences at the United Nations in New York city. Through one of my connections, who has knowledge of the environmental and energy saving work I conduct, I received an invitation to attended the first Sustainability Conferences co-sponsored by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC).

Attending this conference was an honor and a little surreal. Security was intense and thorough, nevertheless I became busy preparing to attend the conference by reading about all the speakers. I continued reviewing all topics and speakers that were at the additional sustainability conferences the following week.

As I write this Going True Green Blog Post, I am finally reflecting back on my copiousness of notes that I put to paper at the conference. Additionally, all the people I met from around the world expressing the same interest in helping our world of countries become increasingly sustainable was invigorating. The conference speakers were from all walks of life and living a more sustainable life were the first steps being taken. Speakers were: H.E. Mrs. Katalin Bogyay, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the United Nations; H.E. Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, High Representative for the UNAOC; H.E. Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations; Dr. Patrick Fagan, Director of Marriage and Religion Research Institute; Dr. Jacqueline Rivers, Executive Director of Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies; Mrs. Matilda Raffa Cuomo, Founder of Mentoring USA; H.E. Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, President of the Pontifical Council for the Family.

As for myself, I arrived early as you can tell from the photo of me below. The first item I noticed was that the conference room was not illuminated in the most energy efficient way. However, this first sustainability conference before the Second Annual United Nations Sustainable Energy For All Forum was focused on the "reasons" and the "how to" get every human on our Earth contributing to sustainability for everyone on every topic. In the midst of last week's UN conferences I started a discussion on Sierra Club's IN (Linkedin) posts. A fellow Environmentalist, Ramakrishna Venkatasamy, commented that no organization or any person should be exempt from contributing to a sustainable planet.  There are to be no exceptions. So what is the answer?

"The answer is FAMILY"
The answer is family. Everyone said the same message and they had the statistics and facts to support every point. Flow charts abound and personal stories solidified...
For a sustainable environment, we need the family to survive.
For sustainable energy, we need the family to instill solutions in our children that there is always a better way.
For a sustainable economy, we need loving family ethics and virtue to operate our corporations.
For sustainable intellect, we need a supporting family around each school aged child.
For sustainable peace, we need the family to give thanks together.
AND then we can have a sustainable world.

Yet, the family which is the most important factor, is the most fragile. The bond between a woman and a man must first be one, so the family can be a team working toward a better tomorrow. Every speaker presented the same truths about what the solution is and it comes down to the Father and Mother of every family.

Afterwards, when the conference concluded two hours later, I had the privilege to speak with others and the speakers. From the Archbishop to Matilda Cuomo, the wife of New York's past Governor Mario Cuomo, as well as many other guests like myself. Connections were forged and friendships started, perhaps we will not see a State, Country, or Corporation lead us to a sustainable tomorrow, instead we will see the family be the vanguard for our world.

Sustainability Lecture

3/18/2015

Monday, March 23, 2015 at St. John's University
8000 Utopia Parkway, Queens, New York

St. John's University, Bill Lauto, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Energy savings, sustainability, going green, going true green, save the earth, save the worldSaint John's University Campus
Bill Lauto, our publisher and author of this Going True Green (GTG) Blog, will be lecturing at Saint John's University in March. This presentation and lecture will cover three topics.
First: The different sustainable energy sources known to man.
Second: Personal choices we make each day to live a sustainable life and how surfeit greed causes a multitude of environmental and energy problems.
Third: To evaluate the real scientific data on Climate Change and not partake in the
pseudo-science presented by the far left and the far right solely for the purpose of making money.

Mr. Lauto is an Environmental Scientist,
International Sustainability Consultant, Patent and Trademark Holder. Mr. Lauto's
goal is to teach individuals, families and businesses how to achieve the deepest green color possible by becoming educated and committed within their own budget of time and money. "Only then can we say that we didn't squander our children's tomorrow on this planet we call Earth," is routinely stated by Mr. Lauto.

We Have Been Misinformed

media, misinformation, reporters, news, documentaries, Nat Geo, History Channel, Discovery Channel, sensationalism, shroud, shroud of turin, turinMedia Sensationalism = Dunce
Far too many times I see or read information in the media about saving energy that is grossly incorrect or pitifully insufficient. On Monday evening I learned just how wide spread misinformation can be.

As some of you know, the Going True Green blog that I write is supported by my small Eco-friendly publishing business.
(More info on BBV Publishing is at the bottom of this Blog posting)
So on Monday evening, because of my publishing business, I had the honor to introduce Mr. Barrie Schwortz for a presentation that BBV Publishing arranged at Saint John's University in New York. He is the official photographer who went with the U.S. science team to study the cloth known as the Shroud of Turin.

Barrie Schwortz, Shroud of Turin, Bill Lauto, St. John's University, Upper Room The Way, Jesus, Jesus the Christ, Christ, talks on the shroudBill Lauto and Barrie Schwortz
I became friends with Mr. Barrie Schwortz in early 2012, when Mr. Schwortz was kind enough to assist with confirming facts about the shroud. This friendship developed when I was editing a historical novel recently published by our new Eco-friendly Press BBV Publishing. The novel is called: Upper Room, The Way: 33AD to 57AD by L. J. Williams and the Shroud of Turin is the theme. All proceeds from the sales of this novel go to charitable causes and BBV Publishing has the novel available in print and digital formats.

Upper Room was published as a vehicle to expand knowledge of the Shroud for the public through historical fiction that has been carefully researched. After hearing Barrie Schwortz's presentation we are proud that we did. Mr. Schwortz gave an amazing presentation and stated that we need to stop watching mainstream media along with cable documentaries. Allow me to paraphrase what he said: 'Most documentaries about the Shroud of Turin are 50% wrong, I know, because I have been in most of them. And if they try really hard, they get it 70% wrong. They do not report the boring facts, because they are an entertainment industry with the goal of making money.'

Photograph below is copyright © 1978 by Barrie M. Schwortz collection, STERA Inc.
Jesus, Jesus the Christ, shroud, shroud of turin, Barrie Schwortz, carbon dating test, carbon dating, upper room, upper room the way, L. J. williams, face of God, Son of GodJesus the Christ
Mr Schwortz then continued with his scientific presentation. He exposed all the misinformation including the Carbon Dating test that was done on only one piece of cloth made up of a different composition from the rest of the shroud and contained dyed cotton. This tested material had been proven to be woven onto the shroud in the 1300's. So it was not the Carbon Dating test that was incorrect, but rather the piece that was used for the test. Then after systematically providing facts, some of which have never been reported by the media, there is no doubt that Shroud of Turin is 2,000 years old and covered only one man known as Jesus the Christ. Still to this day, the scientific community can not explain how the image on the shroud was created and not one person has come close to reproducing the image with all the unique qualities it holds.

So please check and double check your information as we do here at GoingTrueGreen.com, because misinformation also applies to saving energy and our environment. I will continue to work hard and provide only the facts. I don't want to entertain you, with God's help I want us to decipher facts together as one team for humankind.

Going True Green Blog: Earth Day 1990

Part two of two
Earth Day Press Conference, New York's City Hall, going Green, Going True GreenNew York's City Hall

I arrived very early for the Press Conference. After being cleared by security I immediately set up the comparison light bulb display by the podium in the Blue Room of New York's City Hall. I had all my charts and numbers ready to answer any question from the Press. The room quickly filled up with reporters from around the country and the world.

Introductions were being done among the guests before the Mayor arrived, so I had my back toward the front when meeting various invited guests, such as myself. Christopher Reeve, Susan Sarandon and Mel Gibson were the celebs for the event. Mr. Reeve was formal and Ms. Sarandon was pleasant. I didn't get to meet Mr. Gibson because he was joking around with others up to the start of the Press Conference.

Now politics had already shut off the main goal for announcing saving energy at this Press Conference. The Earth Day committee presented the bulb changing project so City Hall could change the 60 watt inefficient incandescent candelabra bulbs to new 13 watt candelabra bulbs in each chandelier hanging from the ceiling of the Blue room. Unfortunately we were told every excuse as to why just changing some light bulbs couldn't be done. This bulb project wasn't in the budget, work orders would need to be filed or not enough time. Not enough time to change light bulbs? It was March, not the day before the conference! Contracts were involved, so I guess these old inefficient bulbs had a very good agent working for them. I am sure if Mayor Dinkins had been in-the-loop, the bulbs would have been changed and presented proudly.

Nevertheless, that was water under the bridge and I wanted to focus on presenting short and to the point information about these new bulbs that very few knew about. When I turned around to go back up front at the start of the conference, I saw the light bulb display was moved to the side wall and I was now informed there wasn't enough room for me to stand with the Mayor, celebrities and other dignitaries. Yet, I was reassured that the Mayor would call me up to answer any question posed by the Press on energy saving lights.

None of the displays offering solutions were shown, no questions were posed and I didn't contribute anything. An expert witness that attended for teaching about how to save water, became so upset that just before the closing of the Press conference he pushed his display right in front of the podium. I can not remember if one piece of educational information was presented to help the general public. In the end, that was not the purpose of the conference. Introductions and Earth Day event announcements for around the city were made and that was the purpose. Lesson learned.

I will work hard to provide you with situations and solutions. I will not just put on a show. I am already receiving requests for solutions on certain topics. I hope to cover them all. Have a great, safe and green weekend.

Going True Green Blog: Earth Day 1990

Part one of two
In late January, I was put in contact with Pamela Lippe, the Executive Director of the Earth Day events in New York City. The year was 1990, the 20th anniversary of Earth Day would occur in April. They needed someone to direct topic on saving energy and thus saving our environment. I volunteered and received approval to be the energy advisor to the Earth Day committee for NYC after my meeting with Pamela and staff, but promotions and most event plans were already completed. We needed some fast and effective energy saving tutorials by March.

Over the next two months we set up several menus, some included demonstrating energy saving compact fluorescent bulbs. Yes, those energy saving fluorescent bulbs did not come out in the year 2002 when Home Centers and eventually Supermarkets started selling them regularly. The first energy, money and earth saving bulb (SL-18) had been around since 1982! Unfortunately, because of money making goals, twenty years had to go by before they became readily available at affordable prices. I fear the same will stand true for the new LED bulbs. BUT I diverse...

NYC Blue Room

Our most advantageous demonstration would be at former NYC Mayor Dinkins' Press Conference for Earth Day. There would be speeches, children, celebrities, and a comparison display of light bulbs with me as the expert witness to answer any question from the press. Nevertheless, the main goal was to have NYC demonstrate their own new energy saving bulbs in each chandelier hanging from the ceiling in the "Blue Room" of the Press Conference. What a show! What a lesson in politics... I will have the conclusion to this in my blog tomorrow.

Fueling The Energy Debate

I received an invitation to the Copenhagen 15 session hosted by Forbes and Shell Oil.

This made for a very interesting morning, especially when I sparked conversations about Hydrogen Fuel Cells! I cited a conversation that I had with a NASA astronaut and found myself followed by a planted mole later in the morning when speaking with others on Break time.

Take me out to the ball game!

Wish to share below the Green Expo Lineup at the NEW environmentally minded Citi Field ball park for the New York Mets. Back in April I was a guest speaker twice with 1010 WINS News Radio at the new Citi Field. The day was Open House for fans to see the new stadium and listen in on "live" radio news shows that hosted educational speakers, like myself, and other events.

I went to bat twice with Alice Stockton-Rossini of WINS News as she threw one hardball question after another at me. All questions were about our environment and how to save energy without sacrificing the life style we know. There was no bunting on my part, as the show was being broadcasted live. The people in the stadium that stopped by to listen in were also amazing and Alice allowed them to throw some fast questions at me for their own houses and businesses.

On my time off the air, I received a tour of Citi Field and spoke with 1010 WINS sports extravaganza, John Montone, himself.

At the end of the day, Alice thanked me and she couldn't believe how much I had to say on the topics. If I remember correctly, she told me that I knocked it out of the park at both interview shows.

All in all, one amazing day with WINS News Radio and the Amazing New York Mets.

P.S. A special thank you to my "go-to" marketing expert, Bob. Thanks for making this happen!

Bill Lauto came on the scene in 1981 to present facts and teach details about how we can save our environment without making  sacrifices. He demonstrated how correctly implementing the technology we already obtained in 1981, allowed us to save Money, Energy and Earth. He voice was one among the few who taught green facts long before anyone else talked about sustainability.
       Bill Lauto's Credentials
By 1994 the Internet was being explored as a tool to provide energy saving information to all of America by Mr. Lauto. Having the foresight, he first launched the Light Bulb HotLine web site off of the company's Domain in 1996. Then in April of 2001, EnergyHotwire became a resource. Today,
GoingTrueGreen.com presents decades of info to dispel mis-information and provide the facts about truly Going True Green.
