"We have been saying since 1982 that YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY JUST CHANGING A LIGHT BULB! Today it is practical for us to change all our light bulbs!"
Soon afterwards, the Hot Line received praise from Ralph Nader, Consumer Advocate; Mark Green, former Consumer Affairs NYC; and was published in Consumer Report Magazine. Also in 1990 Bill Lauto was the Energy Advisor to the Earth Day Committee in New York City for the twentieth anniversary. Eventually our telephone Hot Line merged into our Energy Hotwire web site and now there are hundreds of different designs available as energy saving light bulbs.
Many times members or clients told us that they went looking for an energy saving bulb in a certain design, such as three-ways or candelabra shape, outside floods, decorative globe, soft pink color and were told it was not made.
The reality...The store or electrical supply house didn't have that design to sell.
Designs such as:
Three-Way bulbs, Candelabra shape, Outdoor Floodlights, Globes, Spotlights, Indoor Floodlights, Yellow Bug color, Soft Pink color, Holiday colors - even Blacklight, Dimmable, Rough Service, Under Counters, Inside Refrigerators, High Moisture Areas, and in all sizes to fit in all locations.
Expected Life of Incandescent Bulbs: 750 or 1,000 hours. Expected Life of First made Energy Saving Bulb SL-18 or Earth Lamp: 10,000 hours! Expected Life of Today's Best made Energy Saving Bulbs or Floods: 10,000; 12,000; or 15,000 hours! Expected Life of Cheaper Energy Saving Bulbs made Today: 6,000 or 8,000 hours. |
