Pot kills Trees, Fish and...

Cannabis, pot, marijuana, alcohol, saving trees, tree huggers, fishermen, fish lovers, going greenCannabis Kills
When the complete picture is ignored by those who just see dollar signs, unseen consequences start to occur. And that is not a pretty picture. I have been reading more and more reports on another enemy to our environment and humans.

Cannabis growing is not regulated and is out of control. People who see a "cash crop" are devastating the environment. Forests in the Northwest are being fractured as clearing trees to construct pot growing green houses are clogging streams and sediments are endangering salmon. Also pesticides, fertilizers, and rat poison, used by pot growers, are killing fish and other forest dependent animals. These pot growers are not farmers, they take and don't respect. The water in streams and creeks are stolen to irrigate marijuana crops. Some reports tell of several streams sucked dry! No fees are paid for the complete consumption of these waters and all this, during the worst recorded drought for the West.

Some may excuse these actions if they were to grow food for the hungry in this world, but no, the crop grown is for the greedy in this world. Then on top of all this, studies conducted at the NHTSA, along with the Dutch Ministry of Transportation have shown that the effects of THC on driving skills is sufficient to warrant concern since drivers will be impaired.

The NHTSA also indicated that the drug found to contribute the most to serious injuries in car accidents is marijuana. America has 127 million users of alcohol and 15 million use cannabis. Yet, only 15% of injured drivers in accidents are related to alcohol. While 27% are related to marijuana. The complete picture shows that per capita, marijuana smokers cause 18 times more injuries in car crashes than alcohol. So pot kills trees, fish and people. Additionally, can anyone socialize or solve world issues with people who are drunk or stoned. No, we the people offer them programs, support, and love, so they can once again be involved with the world in a healthy way. What support does someone offer when they are under the influence? For all of us with clear heads, it is time to speak 2 words toward elected officials who want to have legal pot for filling their cauldrons with tax revenue... No Re-Election!

Solar Sabotage

Freedom, sabotage, solar, solar panels, solar city, solar lease, arizona, solar energy, going green, going true green, profit margins, greed, utilities, electric power
America, the land of the free! Except when you may want to install or lease solar!

I write this blog with great disappointment, because our Federal and State governments have failed us and greed controls many of the now inept utility companies that have sat on their previous prowess. A recent study found that 10 out of our 50 states can produce 35% of America's solar electricity. However, they cannot achieve this amazing task, because these 10 states are hindering the expansion of solar electric energy. Only in America could such an ironic statement like this be made: Several states with the most sunny days are sabotaging the solar industry and hard working Americans who want to install a solar system.

The study reported that Florida and Texas are the most gravest offenders, because they have the second and third highest potential for rooftop solar and are only producing 2.7% compared to the total 16% of their rooftop solar power.

Additionally, these 10 States such as Virginia, Nevada, Florida, and Texas, are contributing to making it more difficult for the United States to meet Fossil-Fuel Emission reductions established by the Paris climate change accord.

One can only assume that the utilities are in fear of losing income with solar customers, because they failed to act years ago to bring affordable solar energy to America. Now the utilities have competition and they are getting political leaders from any party to help defend them and their market that they cornered so many years ago. The defense comes in many forms, from Democratic and Republican governors or legislatures. Rules are put into play, such as if you put solar panels on your roof, you must own them. You cannot put panels on your roof that are the property of some solar company, because you are leasing them. Thus, a leasing program that makes solar energy affordable, saves homeowners money, and our environment's future for all our grandchildren, is now null and void.

Some States who are wearing the white cowboy hat are Arizona and California. They are producing more and more solar power each day. This saves money, energy, and our environment, while creating new jobs year after year. This makes it even harder to understand how other States just go along with policies that are preventing all these blessings. Then again, it is also hard to understand why leaders of some countries fear freedom and still believe the illusion that they must control their people.

In order to preserve this great planet of ours, we must be willing to put the best interests of the people before profit margins.  Until that happens, the Earth and all of us living on it remain in jeopardy.

Association for Environmental Studies and Scientists, AESS, Bill Lauto, Going Green, Sustainability, Sustainable Living, Environmental Studies, Saving Energy, GoingTrueGreen, climate change, global warming, greenhouse, saving the world, save money, energy and earth
I will not be addressing Congress, at least not yet, but I will be speaking at the AESS Conference in Washington, DC this June. The Association for Environmental Studies and Scientists is based on the West coast and when I saw that American University in DC will be hosting their annual conference, I immediately submitted a proposal for consideration. My workshop proposal was accepted and I will be presenting as one of the pre-conference workshops.

The Conference Theme is: Science, Empathy, Collaboration and Sustainability
My Workshop title: Sustainable Living and Team Work, June 8th, 9:30am to Noon

So I will first speak about how we as individuals, when living a more sustainable life, are healthier, happier, save more money, and help save Earth's future for our children. All this without making sacrifices, because I don't ask you to conserve, I teach you how to be efficient with today's current technology and knowledge. I will show you details and numbers as examples for how much can be saved by your own ethical actions. After all, why would anyone want to risk our children's future?

Next, I will speak about how to bring what we do at home to our workplace. From non-profits to corporate America, from small shops to universities. The reason is because behind those doors of business are individuals like you. I will share stories on how we work together as a team to solve the problems, not blame each other and fight over who is responsible for the problem.

Last, I will discuss bringing this knowledge to the people we elect and show them that their inner circle of advisors are limited and are stifling solutions. The way solutions are implemented are key and we will review precedent situations to this very point.
I am hoping some of you may attend the conference and hear my presentation if your institution or company will reimburse you for expenses. For those of you who are students, the AESS also offers a student discount.

    Bill Lauto, Environmentalist, Energy Consultant
Bill Lauto came on the scene in 1981 to present facts and teach details about how we can save our environment without making  sacrifices. He demonstrated how correctly implementing the technology we already obtained in 1981, allowed us to save Money, Energy and Earth. He voice was one among the few who taught green facts long before anyone else talked about Going Green.
       Bill Lauto's Credentials
By 1994 the Internet was being explored as a tool to provide energy saving information to all of America by Mr. Lauto. Having the foresight, he first launched the Light Bulb HotLine web site off of the company's Domain in 1996. Then in April of 2001, EnergyHotwire.com became a resource. Today,
GoingTrueGreen.com has joined in to help dispel the mis-information and provide the facts about truly Going Green.
