ICT, e-waste, Treehugger, climate, climate warrior, IT equipment, IT, followers, comments, top treehugger & climate warrior award, going green, going true green
I am pleased to share the news that Going True Green's Blog was one of several "green" style blogs selected by ICT, an international e-waste management company, for their environmental award. ICT deals with recycling electronics as well as IT equipment and has named their award: Top TreeHugger & Climate Warrior Award

The criteria all winners had to meet is listed below:

1) Actively promote sustainable principles (recycling, zero waste, sustainability etc.)
2) Posts on average once per month
3) Has been noted by at least one other credible source for their "greenness"
4) Actively engages with readers either via their blog or their social profiles
5) Lives what they preach
6) Provides unique perspective and ideas

ICT manually reviewed over 500 blogs and narrowed it down to the winners. They searched out active blogs that not only "promoted" green living but lived it and interacted with readers regularly.

In part, the email we received from ICT stated:

We did our best to find active blogs that not only "promoted" green living but lived it and interacted with readers fairly regularly. We avoided blogs that were mostly news sites full of sponsored commercial links. Of course we fully support the use of sponsored posts, but some sites provide almost no value to readers other than SEO backlinks.

Your website was specifically chosen because of your unique approach of offering online classes to help people go green. Many blogs offer words of advice, few offer online classes! We were happy to include such a unique resource.

A major contributing factor to receiving this acknowledgement is because of our followers and readers. By collaborating regularly with my support team of experts throughout the fields of sustainable living, we are able to provide useful details toward saving money, energy, and our environment, when living a more sustainable life without sacrifice. I graciously extend my sincere thanks to all of you and ICT.

One More Resolution

Matthew Kelly, Epiphany, Three kings day, New year's resolution, going green, climate change, global warming, greenhouse effect, being holy, saints, going true green, one holy moment, sustainability, saving the world
Today is the Epiphany and by now many of us have already forsaken our New Year's Resolutions. So here am I talking about giving you a new one.

Several people take on a significant resolution each year and the more involved or complex that resolution is, the more we find ourselves failing to keeping that promise. Many people believe they just can't be "green" and being "True Green" that is impossible. Maybe I can be a mild shade of green, like lime green, but never a deep forest green because that is asking too much.

Let me put you at ease, nobody is asking anyone to go directly to a True Green lifestyle. After 30 years in my field, I am still not true green. I am working towards that goal to this day and I will achieve my mission soon enough. The bottom line is to know that I am not going true green over night. I am going one shade of green at a time.

I have been making small decisions that are attainable within my own budget of time and money, year after year. Small steps that have added up to significant differences not only for me, but for my planet's future.

In many of the books written by Matthew Kelly he talks about how we tell ourselves that holiness is not possible and how that is a lie. Telling ourselves that we can not go green or live a sustainable life by going true green is also a lie. Matthew Kelly continues to explain that we may believe that holiness is possible for our grandmother or some saint that lived one thousand years ago, but not for us. We can't make a resolution to have a holy life by tomorrow afternoon, but we can go out tomorrow and do one (1) holy moment. Not a holy hour or a holy day or a holy year or a holy life, just one holy moment. That is possible by just holding the door open at the Post Office for the next person behind you, going out of your way to support, help or pick up someone. Stopping by a soup kitchen to help unload a pickup truck filled with potatoes, sharing a smile with someone and doing whatever your heart tells you to do. After you take all the holy moments you did and weave them together, you will have a holy life.
The same is true with helping to save our environment for ourselves and our children's future. We don't know for sure what the outcome will be with Climate Change, but we do know that living a more sustainable life saves money, energy, water, and our environment as we live a healthier life without sacrifice. All this can be done one small step at a time... Going one shade of green at a time toward a more sustainable life.

For example, if you are like me, you probably received a few more coffee mugs as a gift this Christmas with your name or a relatable ID mark on the mugs. So instead of stuffing other mugs into your cupboard, bring two or three of them to work to avoid using disposable cups. Just one small resolution for this year that is possible and we will all be the better for that.

Twenty Year Website Anniversary

Hard to believe that our twenty year anniversary for being online with a website to provide sustainable information is almost upon us. Using the Internet since 1992, we didn't embark upon our first website work until 1995, which was before Google even started. By December 1996 the Light Bulb Hotline was up and running off of our main website, BBventures.com (BBV) and over time, the address and name changed to what we have today: EnergyHotwire.com (EHW) and our newer addition called: GoingTrueGreen.com (GTG).

B and B Ventures, BBV Publishing, ACU, EnergyHotwire, Lightbulb Hotline, Going True Green, Energy saving light bulbs, LEDs, Compact FluorescentsApril, 2001: EnergyHotwire.com
Our Going True Green website was created to provide sustainable information in newer formats such as Youtube videos, our award winning GTG Blog, Social Media and Online Classes. However, when necessary to provide more detailed information on a topic, we immediately link back to our EnergyHotwire.com site, which has been dubbed "the encyclopedia" by some. Today, we are working in all formats to educate everyone how to save money, energy, earth and health by living a more sustainable life. In addition, all is accomplished without sacrifice to your current life style. We know this fact to be true, because we have been in this field of work since 1982.

So we are celebrating by first saying, "thank you" to all our visitors, members, and followers over the past twenty years! Also throughout our anniversary year we will look into running contests and presenting new support apparel at our Going True Green GTG Gift Gallery and our Energy Hotwire store.

Nevertheless, our main goal for this 20th Anniversary is to completely redesign and layout a new Energy Hotwire website. All 182 web pages will be redone and all the additional pages that still need to be completed will also be achieved. Thus bringing our SAVE "Money, Energy, Earth, and Health" website up to and over 500 pages strong.

Going True Green Blog: Introduction

4/24/2013

Earth Day, Earthday, Earth Week, Going Green, Going True Green, Bill Lauto, Earth from space, Earth
Hi everyone,

So Earth Day (Monday 22nd) has kicked off Earth Week for 2013 and the Going True Green Blog is up and running. The very title alone, Going True Green, stands for a noble endeavor and as an introduction I want to define what this truly means:

True Green means you are not leaving a carbon footprint, essentially you are operating with a sustainable process that doesn't consume anything that is not renewable nor leave any contaminating elements behind. Such as emitting carbon dioxide from the consumption of fossil fuels. In addition, you hopefully didn't use much energy or resources to reach this True Green goal line.

Going Green is much easier than becoming True Green. Ambitions such as getting completely off the Power Grid is not feasible for most of us at this time, but there are many ways we can make a significant difference today by reaching various shades of Green. I hope you will follow the Going True Green Blog. Our videos will start sometime in May of this year. May is a great month to start new things... Like Going Green.

    Bill Lauto, Environmentalist, Energy Consultant
Bill Lauto came on the scene in 1981 to present facts and teach details about how we can save our environment without making  sacrifices. He demonstrated how correctly implementing the technology we already obtained in 1981, allowed us to save Money, Energy and Earth. He voice was one among the few who taught green facts long before anyone else talked about sustainability.
       Bill Lauto's Credentials
By 1994 the Internet was being explored as a tool to provide energy saving information to all of America by Mr. Lauto. Having the foresight, he first launched the Light Bulb HotLine web site off of the company's Domain in 1996. Then in April of 2001, EnergyHotwire became a resource. Today,
GoingTrueGreen.com presents decades of info to dispel mis-information and provide the facts about truly Going True Green.
