Any product with this Logo, such as food, clothing, or makeup, does not contain any animal products nor was any testing done on animals. A nonprofit organization called Vegan Awareness Foundation does all administration work for this logo.

Since 1998 this logo, a registered trademark, has been applied only to foods, clothing, cosmetics and other products that contain no animal products as well as never been tested on animals. Hundreds of companies are featuring this logo on several thousands of products. Consumers enjoy shopping when this label is featured, because the shopper doesn't need to check individual ingredients on the side panel's long list of ingredients. Below are a few Vegan dishes, homemade and from restaurants.

All too often many do not consider the toxicity in regular makeup. Good post to remind people that it's not just the food we need to be careful with.

Hi PAL,

Thank you for your comment and additional points on cosmetics. We often forget that our skin will absorb just about anything we put on and those applied substances will eventually enter our system. We also do not think about how cosmetic tests are conducted.

A few decades ago I was shown a photo covertly taken at a cosmetic lab. The image showed about one hundred dead rabbits in a pile. They were used to test eye makeup and what amount of this eye makeup can cause damage to the eye. All the bunnies went blind due to amount of eye makeup administered into their eyes because unlike humans, rabbits have no tear ducts to cry out harmful chemicals.

Today, I am informed some testing still occurs in America. Rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice all endure cruel suffering so humans can buy a product for the look of beauty. Since the 1940s, these tests involve holding rabbits in full restraints so chemicals can be put in their eye or spread on shaved skin. The irony to all this is the fact that these tests are notoriously unreliable for us humans.
