The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) coordinates environmental activities, implementing environmentally sound policies and practices. Activities cover a wide range of issues such as: atmosphere, marine and terrestrial ecosystems, green economy and environmental governance.
Started in June 1972 by Maurice Strong, the headquarters is in the Gigiri neighborhood of Nairobi, Kenya, there are also six regional offices and several offices in different countries. The most significant aspect of UNEP is their role in developing environmental conventions internationally and supporting the advancement of environmental science. They also implement policy and information with national governments, regional institutions in conjunction with environmental non-governmental organizations known as NGOs.
This year's WED theme is: 7 Billion Dreams. 1 Planet. Consume with Care.
After all, everything starts with a dream. Many great people have been quoted referencing a "dream." Start by posting your dream to encourage a global community sharing ideas for a healthier planet and environmental sustainable goals!
