The Maher Terminal in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey chose SOX over metal halide (see my previous article for comparison chart) for its hazardous handling area. The choice resulted in an anticipated lighting cost of $3,705.00 annually, compared to $14,483.00 for metal halide. In addition, Maher estimates that the SOX installation reduced burned-out bulb replacement costs by 20%.
