I find the lack of teamwork to deal with the polluted drinking water of Flint Michigan, appalling. Below is the IMMEDIATE Solution for the people of Flint and their domestic water poisoned with lead. When you work as one team with everyone, you get solutions.

The immediate solution is a countertop Water Distiller in every household. The solution is NOT water faucet filters or handing out water in plastic bottles. Filters do not get all the lead out and they don't fit on old style faucets. A tremendous thank you must go out to plumbers of the United Association who donated their time to install new faucets donated by Plumbing Manufacturers International in many Flint homes. Nevertheless, the filters distributed by the State of Michigan, can filter out about 150 parts per billion of lead. Some reports claimed levels of lead in some houses to be as high as 4,000 parts per billion. A filter system is not designed to deal with those high numbers. Additionally, I would strongly recommend changing those filters every 3 weeks, perhaps sooner. Then you have the costs for replacement filters, which add up fast.

Water in plastic bottles is the biggest "bill of goods" pulled over the American people in our entire history of being a country. What was looked upon as a way to save money by taking water from the Flint River is now going to cost millions. What does distilled water taste like? Can you cook with it without altering the taste of the cooking ? Will people readily drink it and not report that it tastes too different from what they are used to? Can the people of Flint just get reconnected to their original water supply ?

Hi James,
Thank you for your questions, I will be happy to answer all of them...

1.) Distilled water taste just like fresh clean water, because it has no taste! Water is not supposed to have a taste at all. Most people don't like their water because it is tainted and has a taste. Sometimes due to this, many restaurants put orange and lemon slices into the water they serve.
Also Distilled water is viewed as neutral, with a pH of 7, right in the middle.
2.) You can cook, bake, make coffee and bring forth the true flavors of what you are making because distilled water will not add any taste or flavor like other domestic water that is tainted. Allow me to share a true story: About twenty five years ago I consulted with a husband and wife who made an excellent team, both of them were lawyers and knew how to evaluate very well. One early Monday morning, after using a countertop water distiller for about 7 months, they fell behind in making distilled water and ran out. Nevertheless, they both still "needed" their morning coffee. So they both agreed to just make a pot of coffee with their tap water from the sink. After all, how much different could the coffee taste, right? So the coffee was done and they both took a taste. They informed me that they both had to spit the coffee out into their kitchen sink.
3.) Cold distilled water quenches your thirst the best and most people who drink it for the first time will state that. The only difference that can be noted will be that they don't taste any taste and that is a great thing because it means the water is not tainted.
4.) The people of Flint are already reconnected to their original water supply. The problem is that the Flint River water that they switched to for almost two years was so corrosive that it ate into the old infrastructure of LEAD pipes that are distributing the domestic water. So the whole infrastructure of Lead pipes must be replaced. This will take years and thus another reason we need to get this solution to the ears of the media and our political leaders.
