Another line of Energy Saving Light Bulbs is being made by OSRAM corporation, a German company. Along with Phillips SL*18 watt bulbs that have been saving money and energy since 1982 and Panasonic's line of energy saving bulbs, we now have a wide selection. If you thought lighting wasn't much to think about, Look Up and think again. At least 15% of our electric bill at home is for lights. For most businesses, 50% of the electric bill is attributed to lighting. Standard bulbs last only 750 hours and dim down drastically with use. Up to 45% of light output is lost and then the bulb burns out. So if we use a 100 watt bulb, soon enough that bulb only gives off 55 watts of light, but we still pay an electric bill for 100 watts of power being consumed! Talk about a waste of money and energy! Energy saving fluorescent bulbs last up to 10 times longer and save up to 71% off our electric bills. AND ONLY lose up to 15% of their light level output. Bottom line: If every home in each state of America replaced one light bulb that they use 4 to 6 hours a day with a new energy saving bulb, we would save more energy in a year than some power plants can produce! |
